Synopsis
A Formal Film In Nine Episodes, Prologue & Epilogue describes a contemporary Asian metropolis through an observational, anthropological approach to filmmaking. The nine episodes portray landscapes, architecture, interiors, people in rural communities and in factories, as well as the ancient and the modern. Every episode shares beauty and casts a critical eye over urban development. Slowly two characters emerge and the film segues into a narrative that follows them through time and space. Shot on 35mm in only single takes on location in the city of Mumbai and in its suburbs, this film defies genres.
